The 2012 SAME/IFMA Facilities Management Workshop brings together public and private sectors to share best practices in the field of Facilities Management and to discuss the latest issues facing senior facilities managers in the public sector. Since 2007, members of the SAME Facilities Asset Management Committee and IFMA members have joined forces to bring the finest in facility management knowledge, expertise and best practices to our members.

Tour Description: Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC)
Join us as we tour the Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) a 1.3 million square foot hospital with a Central Energy Plant. With the BRAC 2005 legislation, inpatients were required to be relocated from Wilford Hall Medical Center, an Air Force hospital in San Antonio, to BAMC, which was renamed the San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC).
The SAMMC project added a 760,000 square foot tower, an additional utility plant, a 1.6 million square foot parking structure (5000 spaces), and renovated approximately 25% of the existing hospital. SAMMC is the DoD's only Level 1 trauma center (the highest acuity) and has the only rooftop helipad in the DoD.
The tour will showcase both the original and new buildings, including:
the rooftop helipad, the interstitial building spaces between the occupied floors, both energy plants (generators, chillers, boilers, water treatment), the utility tunnels, the parking structure, and some of the patient
Tour Requirements: Please bring your ID. You must also wear closed toe shoes and  pants
Complimentary shuttle will be available to and from the Medical Center for attendees. Please meet on the 2nd floor by the registration to check-in.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations will be accepted up to Friday, January 20, 2012, and must be received in writing to registration@same.org. Conference costs will be refunded in full minus a handling and processing charge of $50. Refunds will not be issued after January 20, 2012, or for no-shows, except for deployed forces with orders. You may transfer your registration to a colleague at any time.
Sponsorships and exhibits are non-refundable.
